Computer and Internet Skills



We were required to complete a task which is module 1. This module 1 contain the very basic and important skills of internet and computer.
1) Web Search
2) Downloading ( software, video from Internet, PDF documents)
3) Uploading
4) Encoding
5) Storing
6) Scanning
7) Burning
8) Sending e-mail
9) Compressing files
1.10) File conversion ( PDF to Microsoft Office Word, PDF to Microsoft Office Power Point, Microsoft Office Word to PDF, Microsoft Office Power Point to PDF, Word to Acrobat Reader, Adobe reader manual, Zamzar Manual and Abclit)

Module 1 consist of various skills in using internet and tools. By learning this module, we are able to develop the most basic and important computing skills in using any resources from the internet. As teacher, it is very important for us to know how to search for teaching resources from the internet ; to download picture, storing files are one of the most basic skills that we should develop in order to use the many resources that the internet could offer. Therefore, this module really helpful to us in becoming the future teacher for the 21st century education.


5th week : Teaching Aids

In pairs, we were required to search and prepare a teaching aids for one topic in primary school level one. Me and An-nukman were given the topic Stories, Environmental Issues and Invention.
These are the topic for primary Level 2, year 4,5 and 6.

Based on this topic, we have found tremendous amount of teaching aids in from the internet resources and computer based.

For topic one, the story that we have chosen is 'The Hare and The Tortoise'.we have chosen several teaching aids. One of it is a Picture slides.

we have also chosen a video of the story from the internet. This are the links..
For the topic Invention, we choose the subject TELEPHONE

we have chosen the video about the history of telephone, here's the links

Then, we choose Alexandar Graham Bell as the inventors.
we use a cartoon video about Him as it is more interesting and appealing to the children.

The last topic which is Environmental issues.
We have chose the subject Recycling. We also use video as well as Power Point Slide Show as our teaching aids.

From this assignment, we discover that internet can be used to find great teaching aids. It is very interesting and appealing to young learners.

4th Week

The first group, which on Monday told us that their were required to download several software and use it. Unfortunately, our class was canceled. Looking forward to it this coming class. =)


3rd Week ; the future generation

This week we were asked to bring along the book of teaching English in the primary Classroom by Susan Halliwell. In the class,Pn.Foziah have given us some task where we were required to be in a groups. In groups, we have to discuss the first chapter of the book ehich is working with young language learners. In my group, which is group number 4, we were given the subtopic which is 'Children's instinct for play and fun'.


Children have an enormous capacity for finding and making fun. They are very imaginative.




By inducing the element of playing in learning, children will have the capacity and opportunity in using their creative and critical thinking.

The power of imaginative thinking is that is opens the way to creative and critical thinking skills..This can enhance children's learning.

beautiful and colourful teaching aids is one of the example where teacher can use to develop children imagination.

Therefore, as a future teacher, we should create an environment where students can develop their creative and critical thinking skills.

2nd Week ; are we there yet?

For this class, we are divided into two classes. The first group will be held on Mondays and Ours which is the 2nd group will be held on Tuesday, which is 10am to 1 o'clock.

The class started off with the election of class representative as well as the treasurer and we got the winners. Hazwan is the new monitor and Dominic is the class treasurer. After the election, we were to complete a questionnaire.It was about the use of technology and what kind of technology that we used in our everyday life. This questionnaire seems to give an awareness toward the usage of technology in my daily life. and guess what, even though I have used my handphone for 4 years right now,i still don't know how to use some of its application. after that, we filled up a form of our personal info.

after that, our lecturer,Pn Foziah give us some techniques on how to type properly. In order for us to type properly and comfortable (not to comfortable of course that makes you sleeps), you must sit in with the posture,which is to sit straight. Next, you have to make sure that your computer, keyboard are in the suitable level with your upper body part especially with you arms.
Next, we were given a software which called Typing Test where we practice typing with the appropriate skills. For example, our fingers should be in the right position of on the keyboard.

We have done some practices using the software and I have identified my competencies in typing by using it. This had help me t improved in my typing skills. This is also very useful for us as we have to type most of the days in a week.

USING AND DEVELOPING RESOURCES FOR THE ESL CLASSROOM

LECTURER PUAN FOZIAH BT. MAHMOOD


As I enter the class of PBEY3102 which also known as USING AND DEVELOPING RESOURCES FOR THE ESL CLASSROOM,i was introduced to another technology based class. We've met our very own lecturer for this class, Puan Foziah. There was a short ice breaking session in the beginning of the class where we have the chance to get to know her.
This helped us to feel more relax and comfortable in the class. We were given books entitled "Preparing and Using Visual Aids for English Language Teaching" and "1000 activities for children" which contain a lot of procedures for T-L activities, how to develop our own materials and many more.These books is very useful in our undertaking in the future.For this course,we will undergo this subject through integration of technology where we will learn how to familiarized ourselves with selecting, adapting, designing, and evaluating materials for teaching the ESL at the primary schools. It may sound familiar to me but this subject will be very different from what i had learned before because, we will be using technology and ICT in developing our teaching materials.We were required to bring a picture of passport size, 8gb of pendrive, and she also asked us to install the Adobe Photoshop CS3 version and create a blog for this subject. Still learning, still climbing...That's us. Hope that this course will lead us to a different approach of teaching, using resources that will lead to successful learning in the ESL classroom.
