9-Comments regarding modules:Internet and computing skills

Module 1 - Internet and computing skills
What do you like about this module?
I like the download,upload and save files part of the module. I can download pictures, song and videos from the internet.
What do you not like about this module?
The software that need to be downloaded sometimes is very large and need much time to download it. And too many software that need to be downloaded and make the computer system a bit slow.
What do you like about the task given for this module?
It helps me to use variety of resources in the internet as a teaching aids.
What do you not like about the task given for this module?
To download, upload and save we need to have several software however some of the software cannot be use and too complicated.
What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?
Downloading, uploading and Saves file.
How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?
Variety of resources in the internet such as picture and animation be downloaded and save in our laptop to be use as a teaching aids.


Module 2 - Photo Editing
What do you like about this module?
We can use several software to edit pictures to become more beautiful according to our preference.
What do you not like about this module?
Softwares such as Adobe Photoshop is very difficult to use and need time to understand and master its application. Having given only the tutorial is not enough. We need a face to face teaching of Adobe Photoshop. We need someone to teach us how to use Adobe Photoshop correctly.
What do you like about the task given for this module?
The task given is important as we can use photo editing in creating a teaching aids such as picture cards and picture slide shows.
What do you not like about the task given for this module?
The limitations that we encounter in photo editing prevent us from creating superb teaching aids.
What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?
I learn how to create, combine and edit pictures as a whole.
How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?
Yes, as we usually use picture cards, poster and etc., this module really helps us in developing a picture based teaching aids. We can edit the picture according to the learning topics that suitable and appropriate for primary school students. We can also create picture that is interesting colorful for the students.


Module 3 - Audio Editing
What do you like about this module?
The tutorial in this module teaches me how to make interesting and applicable audio files.
What do you not like about this module?
Some of the software is very difficult to learn such as AUDACITY.
What do you like about the task given for this module?
The task given is helpful as it gives us the opportunity to use all the audio editing skills. We can also create interesting audio files.
What do you not like about the task given for this module?
Some of the task such as cut a song to make a ringtone for our hand phone has nothing to do with creating teaching aids for ESL classroom. We should create and develop an audio file that suitable to be used as a teaching aids and Primary school classroom.
What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?
I have learn how to convert, cut ,mix and combine audio files.
How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?
Converting files into audio files is very useful as we can use this audio as a teaching aids. For example, since children loves to sing a song, we can use interesting edited audio files to give the learning inputs.


Module 4 - Video Editing
What do you like about this module?
From this module, I have learnt to create such a wonderful video, download my favorite music video using the given softwares and convert such video into an audio files.
What do you not like about this module?
Some of the softwares such as Vegas Pro is very difficult to use and we must have a thorough understanding on how to use it.
What do you like about the task given for this module?
We never really have imagine that we could create such a wonderful video and storyline. We did enjoy creating it and developing video using the skills that we have learned in the modules.
What do you not like about the task given for this module?
Probably, the task such as creating the a video and converting a music video into audio files should take considerations the suitability of the music video for a primary school children. It is very difficult to find an appropriate video rather than a nursery rhymes that can be use as a teaching aids.
What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?
I have learnt how to create interesting video and convert video files into and audio files.
How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?
The skills are really helpful as we sometimes need to use video to show the students on several topics. For example, video of paper making will be very suitable for the topic inventions where we are not be able to bring the students to the paper making factory!..


Module 5 -
Software for ELT
What do you like about this module?
This module teaches us on how to use software such as Microsoft Office Publisher to create poster.newsletter and this is very important as a future teacher.I know now where to actually put my name and the company's name in the correct place for each publication.
What do you not like about this module?
Even though we have a thorough understanding on how to create such publication, some of the publication is not needed in the teaching profession.
What do you like about the task given for this module?
The task given is something new as we need to create and develop our own business complete with the publication such as brochure, flyers and business card.
What do you not like about the task given for this module?
Yes, even though we really need these skills as a future teacher, some of this skills is not suitable and the usability is not appropriate in primary school classroom such as bussiness cards that have limited functions.
What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?
I learned how to create brochure, flyers, advertisement, business cards and posters.
How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?
Flyers , resume and brochures are the types of publication that can be use as a teaching aids and useful in for several teaching points such as vocabulary and ect.


If you can change anything about this course, state what is and elaborate?
In my opinion, I would like to change several things about the modules.
Instead of giving each person the module to complete, we can do it as a group work. Then we can share the knowledge with one another.Furthermore, instead of using variety of softwares, we can focus on one software and really learn and master it. This can help us to save time and make use of the software in depth.

BLOGGING

What do you like about blogging?
I like to blog because I can actually be creative in designing my blog and how i present my thoughts. In other words, I can be creative when writing about my experience in the resources class.I love blogging because I can design the way I want my blog to be by putting pictures,softwares such as chat box and music. Furthermore, I love blogging as I can think critically and develop my understanding by writing feedback and having people to comment on it. I can also improve my language and writing skills from blogging.

What you do not like about blogging?
We have to really find time to blog as we have to always updating the blog. Blogging sometimes is also limit the presentations of ideas as we could not express everything in written words.Some of the template are not suitable and inappropriate to be used. Blogging is also time consuming as we need time to update the blog and constructing and write for daily, weekly or monthly entries.

What have you gained from blogging e.g. Language skills, improved fluency, critical thinking, improved thought processes, technology skills etc. How?
I have gained several basic technology skills form blogging. It also improved me in many ways. Blogging help me to develop my critical thinking skills as well as creative thinking skills.
CRITICAL THINKING
We asked to reflect on every week class and to reflect on a every class or topic about technology.This really help me in developing my critical thinking skills. Making reflections allows us to analyze the problems or the topic from every aspects. We need to think critically and make connections with our daily life and real situations.Therefore, create this Blog makes us think critically and to go beyond our potential.
CREATIVE THINKING
Many would agree that we can be so creative in making this Blog. We can use so many element in creating a such wonderful and interactive site. For example, we can provide the site with chat box, the songs to ease the visitors' mind, the colorful animation and the presentation of all the reflections. Creative thinking involved an innovative spirits and thinking outside the box. We develop this by creating an interesting yet effective blog that represent ourselves.

What do you like about this course?

In this high tech world, I believe that ICT is very important in order for us to implement the new curriculum. Even though ICT is not something new in Malaysia, I believe that we still need to develop our resources so that we can be parallel with globalized education. Yes, to have all the resources in the world is not enough as we have to know what and how to use it. This goes down to the basic point which starts from the teacher. Once we were equip by any type of resources, the teacher must know how to handle it and use it in implementing the new curriculum. Therefore, I like this course as it develop our technology skills as a future teacher that will teach the next high tech generation!


What you do not like about this course?
I believe that to master or to learn the basic skills portrayed in each module such as Audio Editing, will take time to be develop. In my opinion, one semester is not enough to learn all these skills. As we are bombarded and given by such technology skill in one semester, where we have also to concentrate on other courses, we become very unmotivated and frustrated as we could not master certain skills that is very important. I believe that tutorials and modules should be presented and learn in a whole different way.

What have you learnt from this course?
I have learnt so many important skills that needed in using technology and its resources. I have learnt how to download and edit picture, how to use Adobe Photoshop, how to create a video, how to splits songs and create brochure.These are some of the basic skills in technology that I have learnt through out this course.I have use this skills in creating teaching aids to be use in the future classroom.
What have you learnt from this course that you did not expect to?
At first, I thought that we are going to learnt how to create teaching aids, technology and non technology such as puppet. However, I have learnt so many things other than creating a common teaching aids.
What have u expected but do not learn from this course?
I learnt more than I expected.


14th Week Reflection

THE FINAL WEEK

For Module 4 tasks, the dateline is on 29th Oct ( Thursday).We have to finish all the task in Module 4 which is about video editing and submit many things on Thursday which are:~Task 1 ( pair, video editing)~Task 2 ( Individual,-extracting audio and pictures from video,Lesson Plan)~Task 3 ( Group, lesson plans)~Module 4 ( video Editing)Since this is the last week for our lesson, I would like to make some conclusion regarding on this subject.



13th Week Reflection

THE TASKS THAT WE NEED TO SUBMIT:
1) Module 2 (photo editing)
2) Individual work, hardcopy + softcopy (task 1)
3) Pair work, e-book, hardcopy + softcopy (task 2)
4) Group work, lesson plans, hardcopy + sofcopy (task 3)
So, for this week, we were asked to submit module 2 which is our E-book and lesson plans. Means there are only 2 modules-5tasks are waiting and we should finish it before the end of the semester.Based on this experience, I have learn so much on technology ad computing skills. I have learn how to edit pictures, edit songs and it is really interesting. I realized that using software may not be simple as I thought it would be. Adobe Photoshop serves variety of functions of video editing that i never could have imagine. As for video editing, I never thought that I can create such a wonderful video. For all this time, I only know how to use Windows Movie Maker. As for know, I am able to extract audio from a video, I can convert video tu audio file and many more using software such as atube catcher, video converter, Real Player, online downloader etc to edit the video. This modules and tutorial helps in developing my technology and computing skills.

12th Week Reflection

For this week class, we were asks to show Pn Foziah our E-BOOK to be check Thank god that our E-BOOK is accepted.
This week's class, Pn Foziah has showed some examples of e-books to us. We are able to use the feedcack given by Pn.Foziah as a way to improve our E-Book. on how to make an E_Book/ E-Book ca be use to be integrated in teaching and learning process.
E-book checklist, there must be:

1) A theme to the story

2) Setting (time and place)

3) Plot that shows the conflict, climax and resolution

4) Characterization

5) Navigational tools to make sure the slides can work properly (can go to next slide and previous slide)

6) Pictures must be clear cut and colourful, no different shades or shadows

7) Sound to accompany the e-book reading.

Puan Foziah checks every pairs E-book and she gave some feedback on our works.
In this week also, Pn Foziah gave us some introduction about video editing.
She showed us some examples of video editing done by her students. This is regarding on our task for module 4 which is video editing. There are several criteria that we should consider when we complete this task.

In pairs we were required to choose theme from the primary school syllabus. We also have to think about the story board and to plan the storyline of the video in the class. An Nukman and I has decided to choose 'Friendship' as our theme for the video editing task. We have chosen a wonderful songs and wonderful pictures of our trip to Langkawi island. Hope it turns out to be interesting .






11th Week - Photo Editing

We have to complete several tasks of Module 2 Photo Editing.In one of the tasks, we need to combine and edit pictures to make up a theme. The theme of my edited picture is love. So, I want to make a story of love between me and my favorite actor Zac Efron. This would be my favorite picture as I am able to picture my self next to my dreamed man...here are the pictures..




In the class, Pn Foziah took a time to introduces to us about E-BOOK. We are asked to complete Task 2 whcih creating an E-BOOK using MS POWER POINT in pairs. We need to choose a theme from the primary school syllabus. and the E-BOOK must be designed with the suitability of primary children. Annukman and I decided to make the e-book based on the story THE HUNGRY CATERPILLAR. Many factors we have to take into consideration while developing the E-BOOK. We hope we can create an E-Book which is interactive and fun.

10th Week Reflection

-

This week class is all about audio editing. In the given module 3, we were required to complete 3 task.
For the task , we need to cut a part of the song so that I can be use as a ringtone.
Next,we need to combine two songs to make it more interesting in other words remix.
Lastly, we have to edit the song 'Dua Insan' by Siti Nurhaliza and M.Nasir.

And of course the compulsory song of Siti and M.Nasir
Pn Foziah given some feedback on the tasks. Many of us realized that we need to improve in our Audio Editing Skills. At the end of the class, we also need to submit the 2 assignments which are, LESSON PLANNING and TEACHING AIDS COLLECTIONS and also our Module 3.
